If being MAGA is a factor in one's decision making process, you shouldn't be hiring basketball coaches.

Bruce Pearl has played to the crowd at Auburn with his MAGA credentials. I'm sure the MAGAs enjoy the side dish, but it's not the main entree.

Exactly. Auburn fans love him, and his politics are considered a nice bonus for many. But Gamecock fans love Dawn Staley just as much even if they don’t vote the way she does. Saban is a Catholic and widely understood to be a Blue Dog Democrat. You think any Bama boosters wanted to run him off for Mike Gundy? Fat chance.

As has been said many times, the answer to all your questions is money... or winning, which makes you money.

If you want them, you give them whatever you want -- the top three salaries are Mulkey, Geno and Staley at a little more than 3 million. Take just a little piece out of your 50-plus million SEC Newtork deal and give a big name an extra million a year. Get your NIL cannon ready to fire.

Otherwise don't throw around how legacied and storied you are. Or maybe keep the coach who was doing pretty good in what the world of the sport has become.

I was just thinking about that on the drive today.

So now Seattle, Portland and Wazzu all have former Eastern Washington HCs? Quite the triangle of power.

Coaching Changes says Nate Oats to Kentucky is gaining steam. As a win-at-all-costs-let's-even-cover-up-a-murder kinda guy, I think he'd do great at Kentucky.

I'll tell you why it isn't.

Three members of the Walton family are among the 20 richest Americans. And John Tyson isn't shopping at Goodwill, either.

NIL already drives everything, and it's only going to be more telling as we continue in this direction. You WILL be able to buy blue-blood status.

Also, whoever thinks Arkansas is some dead end mid-major job hasn’t been paying much attention. Two Elite Eights and a Sweet Sixteen this decade; top 25 all-time winning percentage. And more than 19,000 seats that will now be sold out next season.

What a strange profession we all are/were in.
