I think the sticky stuff ban is definitely a factor. Chasing the same spin without it means more stress.

If I recall, a lot of hitters were in favor sticky stuff too. More pitcher control means getting hit by a pitch less often.

I believe this might be the turning-point day when Colton Cowser overtakes Austin Hays for playing time.

I've been cautious; I mean, Hays was an All-Star last year. But he's done next to nothing since that day, and Cowser just keeps mashing.

JD Martinez has already been Mets’d. Cortisone shot and 3-5 days of no activity for a back issue and he hasn’t played a game for them yet.

Ramon Urias, Jorge Mateo, and Tony Kemp begin playing a three-way game of rock-paper-scissors.

It's almost as if it'd be a better idea to sign a 36-year-old in January and give him a full spring training to get in shape instead of forcing him to hurry into shape so you could save a few pennies!

You just can't have a black hole in the lineup when Jackson Holliday is clearly ready. No offense to Urias, Mateo and Kemp, but they're not Ced Mullins, who can get by on defense and intangibles (for now). You're not bringing Holliday up to join a platoon. As good as that offense can be, it's hitting .234 right now with a .673 OPS. The AL East is too tough, can't get behind while waiting for people to figure it out.

Tyler O'Neill with his league leading (tied with Trout) 6th home run last night.

All solo homers, no other RBIs.

His old school season line to date: .344 avg, 6 HRs, 6 RBIs.

It's not too much different for Trout, who only has eight RBI with his six homers.

Tony Kemp's the odd man out. DFA'd.

Incidentally, Holliday will become the first person since Cal Ripken Sr. to wear No. 7. Cal Jr. and Billy said they had a discussion within the family and decided to green-light that.
