Part of the original intent behind the summer schedule is that NBA owners wanted events to fill their arenas during the slow season.

Rovell still selling that "Clark will take a pay cut to play in the WNBA" nonsense?

At some point soon, players will have shoe deals coming into college (if not before) and the schools will honor the deals - the coaches pocketing all the shoe deal money has been ridiculous. I do wonder how this will trickle down to AAU hoops. Free shoes and gear aren't going to cut it anymore..

The pay won't get better in the WNBA until the franchises are worth more and they start making consistent money. The Aces are worth $14 million, or slightly more than the first year of Wemby's contract. It takes time. It also might be a great time to really consider a major expansion, considering the depth of talent has blossomed in recent years. There are four rosters worth of talent out there.

Don’t discount the serendipity of having all this publicity come in an Olympic year as well.

They aren’t going to match the Big 4’s ratings and that’s ok. There’s still a place for them and room to grow; maybe one of the last growth stories left out there.

Bay Area gets a team next year and the commissioner has said the target is 16 teams by 2028.

I think Luigi "Geno" Auriemma is correct on this. One of the reasons women's college basketball has grown is that players stick around, for the most part (transfer portal notwithstanding), and get their degrees.

Geno: 1-and-done rule could ruin women's hoops

Why is there even rules about it? Can't people consider the individual rather than some larger institutional benefit that trickles down to their checking account?

You mean it's not a good thing that A.J. Storr started as a freshman at St. John's, started as a sophomore at Wisconsin and will now start as a junior at Kansas?
