2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread

This is hands down the best time in sports of the year. Hockey and NBA playoffs and the start of baseball. Just so much to follow.

Speaking of, Canes wasted very little time putting the Islanders in a hole.

And Rod being brutally honest. Doesn't pull punches. Never has.

 

I like the Carolina unis, with the two flags. A good alternate to the "C" shaped like a hurricane cloud formation.

And yeah, we'll see if John Forslund has called his last Kraken game. Lots of speculation around here that he might end up working Boston games next season.

 

I’d actually like to see the Leafs get past Boston, but still …

 

I'm not sure, but I think the last time the Leafs beat the Bruins in the playoffs, Bobby Orr had yet to come to Boston. It's been awhile, that much I know for sure.

 

Bobby Orr had just turned 11 (65 years ago) the last time the Leafs beat the Bruins in a playoff series. I imagine he was happy about it.

To be fair, and somewhat surprisingly, they’ve only played each other six times since then; three in the Orr era and three in the Chara era. With a 39-year gap in between.

Never a good sign when the Rangers' resident Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em robot scored on you.

 

Felt like the Caps were playing to keep it 0-0 until deep into the third. The talent deficit is hard to overcome. Maybe they can steal one on Tuesday to keep it interesting.

 

I think we’re ok without the ESPN intermission graphic counting down in hundredths of a second.

 

Jets-Avs the rare series where both sides feel dyspeptic about their goaltending one game in.

 

It was also a game with some dumb goals. A little of everything.
