Imagine what is going to happen on college campuses when the TikTok ban goes through.

I'm not sure what caused it, whether he tripped or was pushed, or the crowd didn't move like he expected it to or what, but you can see the cameraman lunge into the back of the cop with his camera. Looks like he clonked him in the head or neck with it.
I doubt it was intentional on his part, but given the chaos unfurling around them I'm going to give the cops a pass on this one. Hopefully he was only detained and let go. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets a charge — warranted or not — of assaulting an officer, though.

Of course, it isn't inherently anti-Jewish to claim that there are limits to what Israel has the right to do in response to Oct. 7, but there are a significant number of people who hate Jews taking shelter with the protesters. I don't know what that percentage is, but there is there is plenty of hate for Jewish people in this country and it is found in both political parties. Also, to be fair to Israel, it isn't just about revenge. It is about incapacitating or destroying Hamas so they can't do it again. I don't know if that is even possible, but that is the goal.

Here it is from his POV. Looks like he just got mushed up in the crowd but, again, it's also easy to see how the cops saw it as him hitting an officer in the middle of a chaotic mess. The incident starts at about the 3:00 mark.
Also of note is that the camera kept rolling for another 10 minutes. A cop picked it up and carried it back to the station where they took the cameraman. The walk reminds me of the opening of a "Naked Gun" movie, minus the theme song.

    McHale? Oh well.

I realize as a straight white dude I can probably afford to not care, but I'm guessing he's not the only rich white pro athlete who holds those views. I wonder what's higher, Scottie Scheffler's score to par at the Masters or the number of Democrats on the PGA Tour.

The city of Hibbing was fucking physically relocated at one point to get at what was beneath.

But the mining companies built the “million dollar high school” with chandeliers in the 20s so all was good.

    Your tennis knowledge is showing…

The family ran a grocery store. And back then, up there, it was “bug” not “boo”

Or so I have been told.

Oh, that I didn't know (the McHale part, not your family tree, though I guess I didn't know that either).

As for those roots, they've probably been dug out for more mining.

That said, the Range at present is something of a tragicomedy. The Congressman for this region is a Trump bootlicker and part of the Stauber hockey family (a skater, he played for LSSU in a national title game ca. 1990 and took the net off the posts on purpose to foil a scoring chance). A seat that used to be safely Democrat for decades has been firmly in his control for six years now, mostly because the district is Duluth plus a whole bunch of rural forestland from the Twin Cities exurbs to Bemidji to the Canadian border who resent tourists from the Twin Cities, Native tribes, and especially litigious environmentalists who get the government to tell them what they can't do (mostly mine) on their own land. The "True Iron Ranger" has become an archetype as infamous as Ohio diner stories, because a "True Iron Ranger" is normally stereotypically hard-working, undereducated and white.

Despite 50-plus years of desperate efforts to diversify their economy, the Range continues to ride the boom and bust cycles of steel prices because almost every True Iron Ranger would rather have a 50% chance of a job that pays $90,000 a year than a 100% chance of a job that pays $40,000 a year, and that makes some sense. The alternative is normally tourism, which doesn't work so good when your region is all but uninhabitable four months a year.

In maybe a sad example of the state of affairs, we just ran a story this week from the Range about a driver, high on cannabis and/or meth, who plowed into the back of a county sheriff's vehicle that was unoccupied while the deputy was booking another driver, who was high on cannabis and/or meth.
