Just responding to this. ... This may be what you are talking about. ... I wouldn't mind them, but there are a couple of animated ones that seem to have been designed to bring your eye to them by making it look like a puck moving. Those have really distracted me a few times during the action. If it was just limited to stationary ads that cover what is actually there, I wouldn't really notice or care much.

Agreed. I should have been specific that it’s the animation that’s awful to look. Static ones like they have at the backstop in baseball aren’t too noticeable.

Losing this series in 5 isn't painful enough for the Leafs. They'll win tonight.

Interesting chart. They should have included how many years they have been a franchise. I didn't realize it's been so long since the Sabres were in the playoffs.

    Thanks for sharing.
Buffalo and Vancouver both began play in the 1970-71 season, both have 29 post-season appearances and neither has ever won the Stanley Cup.
The bottom of the chart starkly reveals just how bad Columbus has been through its history. Jarmo was let go, oh, a couple of months ago. JD is almost universally well-liked, but the Blue Jackets seem destined for more gloom in the short-term.

I’m not a “blame the refs” guy, but the officiating in Edmonton was brutal last night. Two phantom calls killed the Kings momentum and any chance to extend the series.

That said, Edmonton was the better team, the Kings power play was atrocious and the goaltending just average.

The Oilers power play was outstanding so whoever plays them better stay out of the box.

Wonder why they scrubbed the Coyotes/Jets numbers from that chart and said “Utah starts next year.” Is Utah considered an expansion team as far as league records go (like the Baltimore Ravens are)?

Not sure exactly what happened because they didn't mention it and did not show replays (the announcers were oblivious). On the last penalty that prevented the ENG (an obvious penalty), Kings coach Jim Hiller was pissed and yelling at the refs. I think it was because on the previous rush up ice when the Kings were leaving their zone, one of the Oilers took down one of the Kings and was sitting on him between the blue line and red line. Obvious interference/holding that was not called. Better team won. Oilers PP is amazing as it totally dismantled the No. 2 PK in the league.

Yes. Keeping the Coyotes IP ahead of their possible “reactivation” was part of the deal the NHL made to get Meruelo to sell.

    Watching BOS-TOR.
I like Kenny Albert, but I sure do miss Doc Emrick.
