Even if you (the collective you) believe it, run through the damn tape.

The wild thing about this election is each major candidate is running against the only guy he could possibly beat this cycle.

 

It's an odd split. Every factor involved in most elections favors Biden, fundraising, economic conditions, incumbency, etc. except one, the poll numbers. Those indicate a very tight race, with some wild variations between individual polls. So who knows? IMO all Trump has going for him is our nation's unrecognized yet very real trauma left over from the pandemic. The desire to go back to before it happened is very strong, and accounts for so-called "Trump nostalgia."

 

The inflation pinch is real, and I think it hits much harder for people in the bottom half of the economy. So even if the readouts look OK, the prosperity is not spread out evenly (even less so than usual.) And alarm bells have been sounding for a while now about his sagging support with youth and minority voters. Writing them off is the kind of copium bullshit we used to laugh at when the Republicans did it last decade.

 

The number of victory laps some of the cools on the left are taking is disconcerting. This is coming from someone who no longer has time for conservatism in any form.

 

That's the second time you've used the term "victory lap" and I'm not seeing that at all. In fact, all I see is doom and gloom. All based on flawed polls. Yeah, it's probably going to be tight, but jeez.

There has to be something other than complete despair, anxiety and defeatism too. Pointing out actual data is not a victory lap.

Not referring to you, although I’m not optimistic because our society sucks.

There are folks here who say “Democrats have won every election since 2018!” So?

 

I don't consider myself overly optimistic, and yeah, the large segment of people who support, or just don't understand, what trump has done and what he will do if he wins is baffling. Truly un-American.

But his whole goal since 2015 has been to make his "enemies" miserable. And he's succeeded in that to a large extent. I'm all for whatever it takes for Biden to win. If fear is the vessel to do it for a lot of people, so be it. But I'm not going to let a traitorous, criminal, lying, unfit, mentally ill fucking assclown make me miserable.

I do have some faith that the large majority of the American people want this bullshit drama to stop. They want the crazy to stop. That and the sleeping giant in Roe will be the difference.

But yeah, if trump wins, that faith will be gone forever.

 

The way he speaks at his wankfests make me wonder if he has some medical condition that will make him incapacitated, or, better yet, dead.
