Fucking hell. Just finished Gen V. It was so much tamer than The Boys, but damn that final battle.
I’m also left feeling confused. I’ll put the rest behind a spoiler tag just in case.

I figured Cate and Indira were putting on a front to trick the Guardians into doing their bidding. Still not sure if it wasn’t all in their heads. Homelander was on brand asking the Black woman what kind of animal she was then basically shouting she’s coming right for me.

All in all, it was a great series. Puppets and all. Curious where the virus goes next and if it got out during the mass escape. Then again, I don’t know if the escape was real.

Also found it interesting they toned down the fucked up shit from The Boys but they also toned down the political and cultural battles. Yes Jordan combated the bi-sexual and gender-crossing rejection from their parents and some general references to “all lives matter” and playing up diversity for ratings, but it wasn’t as in your face. Wonder if they weren’t just worried about how it would play in the Midwest on the show but behind the scenes as well.

I think I can write about this without spoiling anything. I don't think they were toning things down at all. I just think the subject of most of the satire was different. In this case, much of it was directed at colleges and universities and how they treat students, especially athletes.

I think it was all real, though I'm a bit confused about where those characters were at the end.

I'm wondering if we'll find out in the next season of The Boys or if it will be teased there and we'll learn the real answer in Season 2.

I'm guessing that will have to wait until Season 2, though I expect we will at least see one or two characters that were alive and free at the end of Season 1 in the upcoming season of The Boys.

Here is the trailer for Season 4, which drops next year. I haven't seen a release date yet. Anthony Starr really is the perfect Homelander. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Jeffrey Dean Morgan. They have been quiet about his role so far, but it looks like he is playing a friend of Butcher's.

I wonder how closely they are going the broad strokes of the comic, especially since it seems as if there is a new Black Noir.

The cast looks like they're having fun. I hope we do, too.
