Not great, but at least Games 1 and 2 will be on home ice for Dallas. Vegas was looking at basically a 9-day road trip if they had won Game 7.

Is there a reason Canucks-Oilers isn't starting until Wednesday as opposed to Monday?

This is so. You should have seen Pearl Jam fans freaking out about what would happen if the first round went to seven. Shows there Saturday and tomorrow. Nothing but more work for the concert and arena crews, but they were still freaking out.

I just want to say the Rangers’ second goal today was one of the prettiest plays I’ve ever seen in any sport.

they only have a day off before starting when Edmonton-Vancouver have teams that have been off since Wednesday and Friday and Colorado since Tuesday. So why is the other series a Wednesday start?

You mean to tell me they can't find a better plan?

I mean, the answer to these things is almost always "Because TV."

If your question is why is the Stars-Avs series starting on Tuesday and not Wednesday to give the Stars more rest since the other three West teams got more rest, it's almost certainly TV. Turner has a doubleheader of Cavs-Celtics and Mavs-Thunder Game 1's on Tuesday night. ESPN probably wants two hockey games to match. Further, they want to start whichever West series they can as soon as they can because they're already behind the East, a problem that got exacerbated by three of the four East series being short, but they couldn't start Canucks-Oilers (not that ESPN probably gives two shits about that anyway) because Vancouver's arena is apparently hosting multiple Pearl Jam shows this week. Assuming that Game 1 is somehow assigned to ESPN, that would be out because ESPN has that same Tuesday NBA doubleheader that Turner had for itself on Thursday.

Two days is a pretty normal turnaround from a Game 7 to a Game 1 anyway.

Don’t go 7 games then. Nobody was screwed.

I went last night. I didn’t hear anyone freaking out about it going 7 games.

Agree 100 percent with JC. The announcers are just looking for something to complain about. But one of them -- Levy, I think -- pointed out that Dallas, Boston, Colorado and NYR share their buildings with NBA teams, plus concerts.

They also were saying how difficult it was for Mark Stone to return to the ice after missing the end of the regular season. Bullshit. If Vegas is going to be able to take advantage of the LTIR rules, fine, but don't complain about it afterward.

NYR-Canes is going to be a really good series.

The Washington Series felt like it was played in quicksand compared to how the Rangers came out yesterday. Both teams were really fast from the opening puck drop, and both came out hitting. The difference was special teams yesterday. The Rangers went 2 for 2 on the PP and killed 5 penalties. It's kind of been their formula all season, and why were an underdog in this series, b/c nobody has thought they can keep winning deep into the playoffs that way.
