    If the Lord and Savior dies, they’ll have dozens of klansmen klimbing over one another to become the nominee. And the NYT will giddily proclaim the winner of the derby as a huge threat.

    Sometimes I wonder if they might take one out of the Dems' playbook in 1944, when Truman became the nominee for veep over Henry Wallace because, among many reasons, it was felt FDR wouldn't live through his whole term and a lot of party leaders didn't care for Wallace in the top spot. But that would assume the 2024 GQP had some common sense.
