Plenty of Jays fans have questioned it for some time. He's been hanging his hat on the extensive renos of Rogers Centre but the on-field product hasn't been as splashy and crowds have not been great this season. Charlie Montoyo was a terrible hire and John Schneider hasn't been much better. Shapiro ripped on Alex Anthopoulos for looting the farm system in pursuit of playoff success but he has done nothing to rebuild it. The Jays are struggling mightily on offence but there is nothing in the minors to bring up. It's almost a certainty that they will lose Bo Bichette and Vlad Jr to free agency with no way to plug those holes through that route.

I hate when Manfred can look right in a roundabout way. His spin about expanding the playoffs is to make the regular season matter (and also to make a fuckton of money with expanded playoffs), when the only way to really make the regular season matter is to go back to the days when only division champs made the playoffs. But yes. whomever wins 100+ games and loses the AL East will have to survive a wild card series just to get to the main bracket, which is going to make it seem like the wild cards are a good thing. Fuck that shit, back in my day the Orioles went 100-62, finished three games behind the Yankees and missed the playoffs. And we liked it! :D

Skenes 9 Ks and a perfect game through four.

    Pirates up 8-0.

Bucco brass has to be praying for a Cubs hit in the fifth so they can yank Skenes, right?

Perfecto over. Now it's just a boring routine combined no-no.

I doubt they are going to care that the no-hitter is intact. He's at 81 pitches through five, so he has no chance to complete it. I would be surprised if his day isn't done. I doubt ownership will spend the money to build a championship roster around them, but Skenes and Jones could be a lot of fun to watch if they can stay healthy.

The walk is the best-case scenario. Who wants to pull a guy with a perfecto? (Of course they would have)

Dave Roberts pulled Clayton Kershaw seven innings into a perfect game.

They let him go 100 pitches / 6 innings. Kinda surprising but nice to see
