If anyone is curious about Florida before the Florida we know now, read Frank Conroy's memoir 'Stop Time.'

    Beautiful book.

The one good thing about shrinkflation and inflation is I eat less junk food and portion sizes for me are smaller.

It’s about time we as a country get back to a regular-sized sandwich, small fry and small soda being adequate and less a daily occurence.

I don’t have the willpower to give up junk food and restaurant meals. But what I have settled into is only eating one main meal a day (varies between lunch and dinner), a pack of peanut butter crackers for breakfast (so I have something on my stomach for morning meds) and one or two very small snacks during the day. A soda to start the day with the crackers, but usually water the rest of the way.

No shit I’ve gone from a lifetime high of 286 pounds last fall to somewhere in the low 250s now. I get hungry sometimes but I don’t starve. And that happens less often these days.

I don't know how many times I've been asked if I wanted a large drink and reflexively said yes because in my mind, a large is the large 16 oz or so from days gone by. No, that's a small or maybe medium. When they hand me the 44 oz monster, I always think, "Crap. I didn't want that."
Don't even get me started on those biggie bags.

I've probably told this one before, but I was helping plan a cookout one time and it went like this:
Other guy, "How many are we expecting?"
    Me, "100 people."
"Then we'll need 200 hamburgers and 100 hotdogs."
    "I said 100 people."
"Most folks will want two hamburgers and a hotdog."
"Well, they don't need to eat that much, and we aren't providing it."

I can’t drink 44 oz of ANY liquid at once, nevermind soda. I’ll drink water through the day and have a Gatorade after a run.

Holiday weekends on southern beaches cause a serious hit to Walmart’s bottom line. Everybody is here instead of shopping.
Oh, and you can’t shoot a bro country video because all the extras are playing spike ball.

On my way back from the golf course yesterday I stopped at the fish market to pick up something for dinner (grilled tuna and cauliflower grilled as a veg). There were the usual young guys behind the counter, but there was also a lovely young woman, six to the sixth power, in a sarong, who was serving the mugs doughnuts and cupcakes from an enormous tray. Summer is here on Cape Cod and it has its points. Also, employee morale at Chatham Fish and Lobster must be sky-high.

When they first started putting fast food drinks in the giant cups, cupholders in cars wouldn’t fit them. You’d be handed a drink and nowhere to put it. Eventually they realized they needed to make the bottom smaller and carmakers made adjustable cupholders.
