The Trojans scored three runs early and carried a 3-0 lead into the 7th with their starter pitching a no-hitter. He got one out in the 7th, then gave up a hit and a walk. Reliever gave up sac fly. Then UofA scored twice in the 8th to tie and one in the 9th to win.

Saw only the bottom ofthe ninth. Was watching the Spartan meltdown on the Mountain West Network.

I guess it doesn't matter by the letter of the law, but what made the call so terrible was that the supposed interference occurred when the runner was still 50 feet from home plate.

The runner from third was awarded home on a catcher's balk, not interference. The catcher interfered with the batter, who was awarded first base.

    Again, textbook umpiring.

Somehow forgot about the WAC in my traditional West Coast updates: Tarleton State beat Cal Baptist for the tourney title, but is in its first year at D1, so, no postseason.

So does Cal Baptist get the bid?

There’s something almost delightful about watching low-major baseball with no virtual strike zone to parse every pitch.

Need the mighty Owls of KSU to manufacture another run here.

Tarleton State is petitioning the NCAA for a "reevaluation of the postseason ban," per its website, but didn't UC San Diego try and fail at that after winning the Big West last season?

We got the worst two angles for the rule enforcement.

In NCAA, the runner must slide directly into the bag or away fron the fielder.

It is a safety rule, more than being an interference rule. If we had the angle looking from first, it would probably show he slid to the inside of the bag. Just reaching it is not good enough.

The calling umpire is a multi-time CWS umpire, and replay confirmed the call.

    So yes, I'll defend it.
