Former basketball star Jerry Lucas had the same kind of memory. He was said to have memorized pages from the phone book.

Some might memorize the Bible, the Magna Carta, the works of Shakespeare...but the phone book? Ok.

Lucas cowrote a couple popular books on memory. He went on the Tonight Show a couple times and did memory tricks.

I think I saw this when it first aired, not since, then it popped up in YT suggestions.

Dartmouth football coach John Lyons was like that. I met him at a 2003 preseason local media presser. Asked one question. Hour later as everyone is leaving he sidles up and says "Thanks for coming up, Songbird" and made small talk for a minute or two.

It's one of those skills you take to Vegas.

I idolized Jerry Lucas in my youth. I was initially a Cincinnati Royals fan. Lucas had gone through Ohio State with a near 4,0 and had a reputation as brilliant along with being tall and a great basketball player. I wanted to grow up to be tall, brilliant and a great basketball player. I am pretty tall so I guess going one for three is not bad.

I used to listen to a version of the Titus and Tate podcast where Walton did a really good opening. Mark Titus said they would never actually invite Walton on the podcast because he would go on an on about one subject to half the show. Then he might just might get up and leave.

With that voice I wondered why she wasn’t a bigger star in 80’s.
