I have not seen so many players fold under the pressure collectively as the women did on Sunday at the US Open. Minjee Lee, who's a two-time major winner and 2022 Champion had a 3 stroke lead around 5 and completely folded. She was 1 for 8 on fairways hit to start then took a double I think. Then she hit it into the water on 12 and it was over. I was rooting for her. Credit to Saso who instead hit the accelerator and birdied 4 on the back 9 with bombs off the tee and laser irons.

Lancaster deserves to get a Women's Open at least once a decade, but with the USGA's fixation on advance scheduling the next available date isn't until 2037. And 2038 is Oakmont so back-to-back PA Opens probably isn't happening.

The advance scheduling really is a joke. But ... the men are going back-to-back in PA: 2049 at Oakmont and 2050 at Merion.

They better start growing rough now at Merion to combat pros' length in 2050.

Speaking of the U.S. Open, Golf Channel would suck a lot less if it put as much energy into other programming like it does for "Golf's Longest Day."

I'll be 91. Wonder if the assisted living center will prop me up to watch?

There's also back-to-back CA Opens coming: 2031 at Riviera and 2032 at Pebble. The next opening for the men is 2043, so I'm sure they'll announce another one at Pinehurst next week, even though it has in 2041 and 2047 like it's some sort of St. Andrews.

New USGA Golf House Pinehurst ensures that the resort will get whatever it wants when it comes to USGA championships.

We heard this when the Open was held there in 2013 and the winner was +1.

Yeah, length isn't everything. We held our Amateur championship last year at a 6,700-yard course, which is pretty short for a field full of good college and high school players that hit it a mile. But the fairways were tight with tricky sidehill lies everywhere, and the greens were tiny and if you got above the hole on most, you were in jail. Two-day stroke-play qualifying, best score was 8-under. A couple of years prior, we played a track about 500 yards longer but more wide open and someone shot -16 over two days. Length isn't the only defense for a good golf course.
