I don't know why Chase even bothers to do this song and dance anymore. He might as well just say "F*** you. That's what happened."

    It ended just fine.

If it didn't happen to Tony at that moment, it was going to happen in the future. He lead his life in fear of it, even at the most happy times.

Seventeen years ago tonight, a big chunk of the United States thought their cable went out.

There were a lot of great Quasimodoesque predictions on this thread.

Hated the ending. Really hated the invented justifications for why it was so brilliant.

"You see, it was to symbolize that Tony would never be able to stop looking over his shoulder, and that for him it goes on and on and on and on . . . (just like the Journey lyrics!)."

I liked the ending way more than I did The Many Sons of Newark.

That's a low bar to clear.

That is my problem with it. Chase was too busy trying to make everybody think he was a genius to just tell the damn story.

I liked the concept of the ending, Tony’s never ending fear along with the idea that he thinks that he wants to have a traditional family life (even though that is a disaster).

I just didn’t like the fade to black.

I loved the way it ended. And love it or hate it, people still talk about it two decades later. That seems significant.

In a way the concept was like the finale of ER (in that there is no resolution --- things just keep going). But ER slowly pulled the camera back, brought back the original music, showed the hospital from the outside for the only time, everybody still doing their jobs. Exactly how you should illustrate that.
