Somebody tell ESPN that the Red Sox aren't relevant.

And Yamamoto to the IL. They've lost $40 million worth of players in fewer than 24 hours.

It's a little scary, the percentage of impact players who are on DLs.

Steven Kwan went 4-for-5 today and is hitting .398.

One of my favorite quirky baseball rules is that a player who doesn't have enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting title can qualify for the leader board by adding however many hitless at-bats it takes to get to the minimum. Steven Kwan is 18 plate appearances shy of qualifying for the batting title...and would be hitting .361 if he went hitless in his next 18 at-bats, which is 34 points higher than current leader Bobby Witt Jr. Fucking incredible.

There is somebody ese in the AL who is hitting about .360 but also doesn't have enough plate appearances yet and for the life of me I can't remember who.

As of this morning, FOUR of the AL's top 10 batters don't have the minimum plate appearances to qualify yet would finish in the top 10 even with their 0-fers:

Carlos Correa (.308 and still playing tonight) will qualify after getting seven PAs (and counting) in today's doubleheader. In addition to Kwan, Luis Rengifo is seven PAs shy after today (and would be batting .301 w/an 0-for-7). Connor Wong, still playing tonight, entered today 20 PAs shy of qualiying (and would be batting .295 with a 0-for-20 streak...he's 0-for-2 w/a walk so far tonight).

One of the biggest weeks in Birmingham history, not just sports.

Any chance Willie will be there? My guess is he's done traveling (his son said he was fine but recovering from hip replacement surgery in 2022, when his number was retired at Citi Field) but that'd be an incredible moment.
