Travel ball and select teams have become the gatekeepers to pro ball or really even college. And the investment needed is obscene.

A half dozen posts about Jack Brohamer in the RIP Willie Mays thread wasn't on my bingo card for today LOL.

Looking forward to the Litterial Green digression in a future RIP Michael Jordan thread ...

I saved this to look at for when I got home. A necessary slap in the face.

Sometimes I wonder if Birmingham is better because things have gotten better or if it is because the most hardened racists have opted out of urban life altogether and spend their days on social media obsessing about how “dangerous” everything is.

True - forget NIL in college baseball - most only get partial scholarships.

50+ years later, Condredge Holloway is about as beloved as someone not named Manning can get at Tennessee.

It's pretty much unrighteous to the bone that an outstanding Willie Mays obit thread got sidejacked to Rickey Henderson (who was great, though) to Jack Brohamer (who was not) and then, of all the fuckin' people here, to some distant regional memory named Condredge Holloway.

Reggie Jackson was fantastic, though. Props for that.
