I love that scene... mostly because I had several Philosophy and Sociology classes in that very lecture hall.

Also an excellent character on The Simpsons, Hollis Hurlbut, in “Lisa the Iconclast.”

    RIP to an outstanding actor.

    The GQ&A: Donald Sutherland

    Worth a read.

I guess a life goal is having a story like this:

I was with Jane Fonda at the Chelsea Hotel in 1970, maybe ’71. It was a room with a big bed and, to the right, four or five stairs to a landing that led to the bathroom. There was a little oval window on the landing and there was a streetlight shining through that window though it seemed more like moonlight so maybe it was the moon, I like to think it was the moon. I was lying on my back on the bed when Jane came out of the bathroom. She, too, was naked, and when the moonlight caught her perfect breasts I stopped breathing. Everything stopped. And then it started again. Now, when I see it in my memory, I stopped breathing again.

It certainly did. Tommy Douglas, the father of his second wife (Keifer's mother), was a former premier of Saskatchewan and the father of socialized medicine in Canada.

Wow...I forgot he was with Jane Fonda...who in my opinion was one of the all-time sexpots.

Question for our friends up North - is Sutherland considered Canada's greatest actor? I'll hang up and listen.

THAT was one underrated show. Look at that cast.

Wow! That was terrific. Thank you for sharing.
Couldn't get an audition for a year after Ordinary People. Asked myself, why not?

To piggyback on @Tighthead's comment: I guess a life goal is having such an interesting love life that people forget you slept with Jane Fonda.

I think so, at least with dramatic chops. Jim Carrey was kind of transitioning to serious roles but slowed down. Christopher Plummer and Gordon Pinsent don’t have the same level of success.

Candy, Fox and Carrey on the comedy side I think.

So good in everything, including, somehow, in a movie that really, truly does exist, Backdraft 2. The perfect movie to watch at 3 a.m.
