PL Dubois to the Caps for Darcy Kuemper. He only spent one year in LA.

Kings just wanted to dump the contract. Not sure why Washington would take it on. Kings were up against an NMC that kicked in July 1.

As a Kings fan, I'm glad to see PLD gone. He did nothing here after Blake signed him to that ridiculous deal based more on potential than production. I was surprised to read he's only 25. Maybe Columbus and Winnipeg weren't the problem.

The Arizona State Land Department has canceled the auction on the 95-acre parcel on which Alex Meruelo said he planned to build a new arena and “re-activate” the franchise.

That’s some more great vetting there, NHL.

I thought it was widely understood that plan was presented in the same vein as the family dog going to live on a farm in the country.

    Not really, no.

The plan (theoretically) isn't dead. The Coyotes ownership has to get a special use permit before they hold the auction. Essentially, the state needs to determine that the owners will be legally allowed to build what they want on that spot before the state sells them the land. The sale is postponed until they get the permit.

I have no idea if they'll get the permit, and if they do it wouldn't surprise me if they get outbid for the land. They are cheap and stupid.

I believe that the Coyotes owner believes he will get this done. I would personally put the odds at about 15%, but who knows?

Meanwhile, I just bought tickets for the six games the Coyotes' minor league team will be playing in Mullett Arena next season.

They didn't mention that they failed to get the permit

From my understanding, they weren't asked to get one until now.

Elliotte said the land was in a zoning where you could build a youth hockey facility so they didn't get the permits you'd need for a major NHL arena. These fucking guys.
