Keystone, Colorado

Me, mrschef, and several friends just got back from 4 days way up in the hills.
You’re right at 9500 feet in altitude, which basically puts you right next to the sun. It never touched 70 degrees in 4 days, but it felt like high 80’s-low 90’s.
We went to the bourbon/bacon festival there.
Great food.
Great bourbon.
Great music.
Great time.
Took us right at a 6 1/2 hour drive to get there. Easy drive though.
If you have a chance to go next year, I highly suggest it.

 

Is that what they named the beer after?

 

My wife told me to get a tee time for Sunday morning at either one of the courses, but I decided not to.
The night we got there, and the next morning, we ate at Steep.
Unreal how many pizza places are in Keystone.

 

I left my right ACL at their very fancy medical center at the bottom of Keystone Mountain about 18 years ago. Good times.

I skied once on a college spring break trip to Steamboat. It’s the only time I’ve been.

 

I’ve skied Wolf Creek, Breckenridge and Monarch.
Wolf Creek was fun but it felt like it took 3 weeks to get there.
Loveland Pass at right at 12,000 feet was cool. Took that back route going up, and went through Dillon to 70 going back.

 

One of the two courses is a Robert Trent Jones Jr. course.
Get the pretzel for the app, a pizza and one of their in house brews. You won’t be disappointed.

 

Did you hit a rock at the bottom of the run?

 

Molson's had already appropriated the "Golden" name long before Keystone was invented.
