It is definitely time for Grayson Rodriguez to put on his big-boy pants.

Hayden Birdsong debuting today for the Giants against the Cubs and Hayden Wesneski.

Hayden Penn had to ruin it about 20 years ago by becoming the only other Hayden (first name) to pitch in the bigs.

A's righty Mitch Spence vs. Angels last night.
Fourth inning, faced 9 batters, allowed 5 hits and 1 HBP, gave up 5 runs (grand slam by Moniak). Made less than 20 pitches. I don't know where to look up pitches-by-inning breakdowns. He was at 16 with two outs (after facing 8 batters) and got an inning-ending strikeout.

Indians' Jhonkensy Noel loses his bat on his first MLB swing, sends it helicoptering past third base.

On his second swing, he becomes the 135th to homer in his first MLB at-bat. Because Grayson Rodriguez.

Angels sweep the A's and move within 9.5 games of the wildcard. After not playing Oakland all season, they have 10 more games versus the A's by the end of July.

We've commented on their odd schedule previously, but how do you not play a division opponent for half the season then wrap up the season series in a month?

In his 80 games played, Judge had 30 homers and 77 RBI

    On an absolute tear. Mashing.

Wonder how many pitches he’ll get to hit from now on unless someone other than Soto starts hitting a little bit more in that Yankee lineup.

I would have expected that number to be 2 or 3 times higher than 135.

We are living in strange times. The Guardians have such a big lead in the Central they punted on a game by resting their entire bullpen in a 2-2 game against one of the teams they’ll battle for best record in the AL.
