In the past it would take years of R&D and testing to get a vaccine to people. When the pandemic broke out, doctors didn't think they had years. They were worried about what might happen in weeks. And if you think this is the last virus that will mutate and replicate and migrate in stranger ways that will baffle the medical community, you probably ain't seen nothing yet. But by all means, let's get on the yokel train and "do your own research" on Dr. Google and Dr. Facebook.

Over-reacted, under-reacted, too restrictive, not restrictive enough, whatever. There is no question the states that took a more restrictive and cautious approach, and whose government leaders actively advocated for their citizens to get vaccinated, had far lower death rates than those that didn't. Especially after the vaccine became widely available.

Agree. Definitely saw that out here last night. Other than Boebert, who pretty much won on name recognition in a six-way race that split the anti-Boebert vote (she got 43%), Republicans nominated quasi-sane people in congressional races vs. MAGA loving, election-denying candidates. And two far left state representatives got primaried.

And frankly, as someone who leans further left than Karl Marx, even I am getting a bit annoyed with the progressives that think candidates need to get a perfect score on every question to be deemed worthy. No, you're not gonna' get everything you want with every person, but you're damn sure better off getting most of what you want -- or even some -- than tipping the election into the other team and getting none. But these spoiled children don't get that. A lot of them STILL don't get how badly they burned themselves by sitting out 2016 because their feelings were hurt about Bernie Sanders.

It is important to remember why half of the country whined and refused to wear masks, and why most of those measures were not implemented properly. It was leadership, specifically the president of the United States refusing to admit what we were facing and what needed to be done to buy the time scientists needed to get out of it. Yes, there were plenty of selfish, stupid people fucking things up, but they were empowered by one particular selfish, stupid person, Donald Trump.

You really were on your way to a good point, but you just couldn't help yourself with the nonsense about the left. Bless your heart, you fucking fraud.

The Hurricane Sharpie thing gets lost as so many of his failings do. That often seems to be the problem, that it is impossible to keep up with every way he is terrible.

Yup. To borrow the phrase, this is why Democrats are often so bumfuzzled. It is a much more diverse tent, which makes it damn difficult to unite. Some people need to get the fuck over it and vote for Biden anyway in November or we all lose.

The Hurricane Sharpie is - at the same time - a non-issue and the driving example as to why Donald Trump can't be President again.

If Donald Trump had to deliver bad but important news to the country, he is completely incapable. 99.99.
