Im guessing it is that they've always "been there" - but they were funding candidates in state house seats out this way. State house seats that don't deal with foreign policy. And taking out progressives impacts more than just policy regarding Israel. Climate, transportation policy, police reform...really waters those efforts down.

The notion that Jamaal Bowman lost his primary because of AIPAC is nonsense and that Mediate article -- while bristling against the notion that they're blaming shadowy Jewish money and influence for Bowman's defeat or trolling in dual loyalty tropes -- is doing exactly that (even if they did serve a Jewish lefty to swear that's not the case). He lost because Jews represent 10 percent of the population and 20 percent of the voters in the district, and its makeup changed since the last election, giving him less of the Bronx and more of Westchester. And while AIPAC's contributions no doubt helped his opponent (as PAC money tends to do -- it's only a problem when it helps the other side), his fire alarm stunt embarrassed his constituents and he made breathtakingly stupid and slanderous comments about "genocide" and described the Oct. 7 attacks as "resistance." People can think for themselves. The Nation -- usually not one to criticize far left anti-Israel politicians, nails it:

Bowman lost me with the fire alarm stunt. When you're fighting against THIS House majority and its band of corrupt morons, all you have to do is act normal. He failed.

 

It also doesn’t help that he was an unserious candidate and had a bad campaign staff.

The Russians May Have Lost An Entire Airborne Brigade In Vovchansk

 

Holy crap. I can’t get over the numbers of the Russian losses. 1,000 casualties a day in some cases.

 

The spend was certainly huge, but Bowman only won 54% of the primary vote in 2022. Turnout was also way higher this time — 77k as opposed to 40k.

 

One thing the Russians have unlimited numbers of is bodies. They'll throw them out there and let the other side shoot their wad mowing them down. That's how they took Berlin basically.

 

Especially when they are forcing foreigners to fight for them under false pretenses.

But this wasn’t just a “bodies” unit. This was their best airborne brigade. This would be the equivalent to us losing 2nd Brigade, 82D Airborne Division.

 

Incumbents losing seats in primaries is often a two-step process. If the incumbent shows weakness in a primary in one election against underfunded opponents, as Bowman did in 2022, the next cycle a better candidate with more funding will appear.
