Finished Season 3 of The Bear. It perhaps leans a tick too much into anxiety porn but it continues to be compelling work. Really thought it was well done. Enjoyed it.

I had to stop watching the “This is Us” show on NBC because it became sadness porn. To be sure, The Bear is not near that level, but could if teeter if not careful.

Won’t give spoilers. But along with being a compelling story, it’s also just interesting to watch. So many directing, acting and editing choices you don’t see a lot.

I wish Poehler and Offerman would do another season of "Making It." The baking version was nice, but I am so bored with the American food competition shows. Actually, I'm bored with food shows, period. The last one I stuck with was a series that paired engineers with bakers.

Speaking of which, we could do with another season of Making Fun. I miss Jimmy DiResta, Grizz, Canadian Pat, and company.

Top Chef is the only one I kind of stick with, but yeah - Stuff like The Great British Bake Off, and when Ramsey did UK Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, are just so much better than almost everything else. The latter is now 20 years old but I still revisit it from time to time, because he pointedly does not just yell and shout at everyone, and the restaurants fail. (Some early seasons of Hotel Impossible, The Profit and Bar Rescue can be good as well, but pretty much all of them sink under the weight of their heightened stakes bullshit as they go along.)

Usually I love Top Chef but this past season was lame; it’s like the season’s budget was $19.82.

Will The Bear ever appear on FX? I can't seem to find an answer.

I'm only four episodes into Season 3, but the way they handled the situation with Marcus' mother, how it was shot, how they brought Claire back in to hammer home exactly where Marcus was mentally, it was just brilliant. I agree, a tough watch at times, and I basically can watch two at a time before needing something more sunny, but damn, it's incredibly well done TV.

They aired S1 on FX... in May 2024, in advance of S3. Which is kind of weird to me, but I imagine the random lengths of episodes makes it hard to slot into conventional TV time slots. If you have a DVR, you could setup a recording and hope to get it at some point, or there is a chance its in the On Demand portion.

Found The Bear on Disney+, started Season 1 last night. It's such an achievement for my wife and I to agree on a show, I feel like we should just watch one episode a month so it lasts a few years.

Every time I saw a commercial, it said "FX presents The Bear, on Hulu), or something like that.

It originally started on FX but migrated over. I know if I go to my On Demand on Xfinity, I can watch season 1, but I need a Hulu sub (which comes with my Spotify) to watch the other two seasons.

We haven’t watched season 3 yet, but it is odd they decided to continue the stream the whole season at once model. The show is such a critics darling that you would think that they could get more buzz with a weekly drop.
