Well, he was playing against the number one player in the world, which might have had a little something to do with it, too.

Lulu Sun is now my second-favorite name in tennis, behind Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

And Coco goes down 6-4, 6-3 to American up-and-comer Emma Navarro, who has risen from 147 to the top 20 (14 in the current live rankings) in the past couple years.

Navarro was very solid and very smart. She picked on Gauff's forehand the entire match and watched Coco get more and more frustrated and make more and more errors. Coco was really sloppy and eventually just fell apart mentally.

Lulu Sun's older sister, Phenomena (Radovcic), played a little pro tennis until 2016.

Huge win for the top-ranked American as Taylor Fritz comes from a two-set deficit to beat No. 4 Sasha Zverev 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 6-3. It's his first victory over a top-five player in a major -- he was 0-9 in those matches previously. He'll face Lorenzo Musetti in the quarters. If he wins that, according to the live rankings, he'll move into the top 10.

Wow, I just saw this and was going to post this result. My impression of Fritz has been that what he has been missing is grit, after he won Indian Wells in '23 (or 22) that he had talent but then kinda rested on his laurels (from watching Netflix series). This win shows that he's getting the grit because Zverev was playing really well (French Open and the lead up this year). Fritz isn't my kinda guy but nice to see him advance.

Bummer on Gauff, man her FH is really holding her back, so loopy and inconsistent. Its the opposite of Roddick who had a killer FH and the weakest 2 handed BH I've ever seen. Gauff FH reminds me of Edberg who had the sweetest looking BH around (better than Fed perhaps) but his FH, oh man clunky to watch.

Hmmm... Djoker holding his abdomen after points, then runs off the court after Rune wins a game at love.

Some kind of injury or illness issue?

Guess he's OK -- comes back with a hold and a break.

To win on grass Gauff is going to have to really develop a killer serve. One that she can trust to get her easy points when she's 15-30 in a game or facing a break point. It wouldn't also kill her to actually come forward a little more and cut down some of the risk on that forehand.

Can someone explain why, if you have 100% accurate electronic eyes, you would then employ less than 100% accurate humans?

Sinner v Medvedev is all court tennis at high level. Enjoy them coming in when available and making sweet volleys.
