Matt Mitchell (Arkansas in this one) will be a great add to those skits.

 

Pretty sure this was just a one-off (as was FunnyMaine Johnson). Mitchell used to be a regular for SEC Shorts (and their sister channel, It’s a Southern Thing) but struck out on his own after some kind of dispute.

 

Placed on administrative leave in July? Unlikely to return? This sounds unpromising.

Meanwhile up the road, Utah has named Morgan Scalley as head coach in waiting - again. He lost that title in 2020 when a racist text message emerged and America pretended to give a shit about racial equity for a hot minute.

Utah State has informed football coach Blake Anderson of its intent to fire him after an external investigation of alleged noncompliance of Title IX policies "that require full and timely reporting of disclosures of sexual misconduct," it was announced Tuesday.

In a statement, Utah State said the investigation stemmed from "actions taken in spring 2023" that "violated both his employment agreement and university policy." It also alleges Anderson having violated rules that "prohibit employees from investigating disclosures of sexual misconduct themselves."

The university said Anderson has 14 days to respond.

Defensive coordinator Nate Dreiling has been named interim coach, sources told ESPN.​

Note to Utah State: Do not hire any more football coaches named Anderson or Andersen. It's a train wreck waiting to happen.

In addition to all the problems he has caused himself, dude has been through a helluva lot. Lost his first wife to breast cancer and a son to suicide.

 

Maybe not having to do a job that never lets you take a break will be a good thing. If he can manage to get a semblance of a severance package.
