Who said they were willing to take one for the team? All part of the conspiracy…

The way things are in today’s world, the fact that there is even the thought of a hoax is just really sad. And yet, after Sandy Hook and the demonization by the Right of mass shooting victims and their families, and 1/6, I don’t exactly feel bad about entertaining even the minuscule possibility of a hoax with the MAGA crew.

Is this the first prominent, special-bulletin-rip-up-1A-all-hands-on-deck shooting where virtually nobody has called for gun control?

I think this is nihilism’s final victory. Everybody has accepted the utter futility of thinking America will ever stand down on its beloved shooting irons.

Shortly after the shooting, CNN had a retired Secret Service agent on. The guy was gushing about the job that agents did in getting Trump off the stage. Nothing about the fact that a shooter got off several rounds and nearly killed the protectee.

    It's how conspiracies work.
Them boys on the grassy knoll were buried in the desert about past Terlingua two hours later.
    How do you know?
    Still got the shovel.

Also the first rip up A1 in an era of absurdly early deadlines.

There's no more ripping up A1. The freakin Charlotte Observer is going to three days a week print edition with mail delivery. Wednesdays, Fridays, Sundays with mailer delivery that same say except Sunday, which will be delivered on Saturday. That means the "news" will be at least a day and a half old before anyone gets it.

Out here on the West Coast, there was time to make it happen.

Whatever the Seattle Times Sunday A1 centerpiece had been was removed for Trump coverage. And the two open inside pages that had been for the CP jump had numerous sidebars and photos from Pennsylvania.

Big copy desker hat tip to whoever had the Saturday night desk shift in Seattle last night.

And then stiff the house when it's time to settle his markers.
