Shapiro would be an excellent choice.

On the plus side, she isn't a convicted felon, and she didn't try to overthrow the government. And she never hung out with Epstein, etc.

All I know is this. If the False Prophet starts stalking Kamala around the stage, like he did a few days after the Access Hollywood tape came out in 2016, he's gonna regret it.

Pelosi was the critical turning point, in Joe's decision.

If you don’t have a family history of dementia and a parent you’ve always known as vigorous and sharp who is rounding the first couple of curves on that nightmare downhill road, then count yourself blessed.

Because it sucks. It absolutely sucks to be the be one to point out that this person you owe your very life to can’t do all the things any more and that certain guardrails now need to go up and gradually more and more experiences become a terrible idea. You are the bad guy for doubting them - especially from a distance - and there are days you doubt yourself when they seem like your fully-intact hero just like they always were.

But eventually enough of those little dots of incoherence begin to form a clearer picture, one you knew was coming into focus and yet swore you were not seeing until you no longer could.

Joe Biden was denied a graceful ending because he knew that a thoroughly evil man was threatening every value he’s held close in more than a half-century of public service. And so he felt compelled to fight back. But he’s no longer able to successfully lead that fight.

The least we can do is win that fight for him. For ourselves. For our future.

Nailed it. She had trouble finding her footing when there were more progressive candidates as an option (Warren and Sanders), or more moderate candidates (Biden). She basically couldn't get the money behind her and struggled to stand out.

But she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. We seem to have forgotten how hard she hit Biden in the debates about some of his past policies. They reconciled, but that was a real question when she was up for VP.

That's not the issue now. She'll have the backing. As long as someone with name recognition like Newsom doesn't try to fuck things up, the party will unify around her and so will the donors.

Yep, and this has to be the message. Admit that age is making it difficult — not too difficult to do the job of POTUS, and you saw that during the NATO Summit, etc., but too difficult to withstand the rigors of doing the most important job in the world and running for that job There’s no shame in that. This argument will need to be made as already there are people like Mike Johnson saying if Biden isn’t fit to run, he isn’t fit to be president now.

So when can we expect fuckface Clooney’s check? And when is he hosting a fundraiser for this new ticket he so wanted? Put your money where your mouth is.

I think Biden will resign about Sept. 1 to give Big Kam the full weight of incumbency. Maybe at the beginning of the convention.

I agree with most of this, but I'm going to say it again, as someone who has a grandmother in the nursing home who is a shell of her former self with Lewy body dementia: there is no evidence Biden has dementia. A speech impediment, walking slower, etc. DOES NOT EQUAL dementia. There is no doubt he's aging, but dementia? If he's got it, he's doing really damn good. My grandmother, even in her early stages, could not have followed a conversation anywhere near how he has shown in recent interviews and the post-assassination news conference he can.

A relevant thing I read recently:

Donald Trump, Joe Biden and dementia: Why not to diagnose from a distance
