    It's called "playing the news cycle." Don't overwhelm all the news sources on day 1 -- release the news gradually over a period of days, or even weeks.

    I also think it had a bit to do with the NY Post story using sources to say the Obamas weren't going to endorse her and then bright and early the next day it was a big FU to Murdoch and Co.
