I vacationed at Jasper years ago and it's not some fire alley pols and developers keep building on. It started as and still is a key Canadian Pacific rail hub. I have read that the train station and crew bunkhouse were both destroyed by the fire. The 300-foot wall of flame seems to have spared Jasper Park Lodge, where I stayed.

I'm visiting Nashville for a bit and just got drenched in my first rain storm since last fall. I am soaked head to toes. It was glorious.

I'll be there for about three hours on Saturday. I'd just as soon it not rain.

It rained here this morning, first rain I can remember in more than a month at least. It was anice, a gentle shower instead of a deluge. Cleans off the streets, knocks down any remaining pollen, takes care of the dust and helps tamper down the wildfire danger.

I'd trade a couple sunny summer days for some rainy days if we could get the sunny days in January or February.
