A home game against the Rockies is the equivalent of a triple-A rehab start. Colorado is 14-38 (.269) on the road.

That at-bat was sponsored by Krylon Paint. One run, one drip, one error.

In one of the weirdest stats* for a starter, Snell has not had a decision since April 19. His last 4 starts since coming off the IL 5 innings, 7 innings, 6 innings, 6 innings. Two runs, 8 hits, 7 walks, 30 strikeouts. Giants lost one, but late. Won the other 3, including his near perfect game. None of the decisions went to Snell.

*Snell is 0-3 in 9 starts thanks to two trips to the IL.

101 wins last year was definitely an overachievement. They won some games they shouldn't have and were probably more like a 92-93 win team. This last month or so has been a strange confluence of the timely hitting disappearing and the pitching being awful across the board. There's too much pressure on Burnes and Rodriguez to be perfect in their starts, because the other three rotation spots have been a black hole. I have zero confidence in Suarez, Kremer and whatever warm body they pull up from Norfolk. Eflin is at least an adult who can possibly spin a quality start here or there. I know it's not a perfect stat, but it does say something if your starter can go six and keep your team in the game. Burnes and Rodriguez have 27 quality starts between them. The rest of the team has 16 between them, and five of those came from dudes who are out for the season. It's not sustainable, and it's a big reason the overtaxed pen is coming apart at the seams. The next two days will be telling.

I’m troubled by the body language etc. This team looks like it’s 43-61, not 61-43.

Rutschman getting a much-needed day off from everything today. They're playing two tomorrow, too.

Henderson just made a remarkable play, a 6-3 completed while rolling over on his butt.

EDIT: Damn, did they ever need this third inning.
