Boston Globe harmful and wrong headline: Transgender boxer advances

(Putting this in the journalism forum, too, as we wait to see how the Boston Globe responds.)

If I were Greg Beacham of the AP, I would be FURIOUS. And while I don't advocate for people losing jobs, this seems more like an agenda than a mistake. (Not sure where it belongs -- journalism thread? politics? Olympics? This topic is so alarming. Thanks Joe Rogan and your low testosterone!)

Khelif’s is just driving the right wing shriekers insane because her existence is forcing them to go beyond their talking points and stereotypes and doing that is breaking their brains.

They claim she’s a man = they’re proving their own “men can’t get pregnant” slogan to be false.

They admit she’s a woman = she defeated other women, so what is the problem?

They complain about her XY chromosomes = God made her that way; the Lord works in mysterious ways and who are we to question God?

On top of this, dammit, like I said in the Olympics thread, Beacham's one of AP's best. But people who don't know how journalism works are blaming him for that headline, not understanding the same story that was sent to the Globe was sent to every other AP subscriber in the world.

He's taking time out of covering the Olympics to reply to some of the comments blaming him. As if he has nothing more to do on a Saturday in Paris! It's amazing how many readers think it's his fault, and the Globe has yet to say anything. I feel terrible for him.

I skimmed his feed and saw at least one post on the Rams. Damn.

Globe is getting fried in the replies. And rightfully so.

The apology seems too little, too late.

I'd like some specificity as to what exactly happened, and whether or not anyone will be disciplined.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall of the AP offices.

I'd rather be a fly on the wall of the Globe offices.

And obviously putting a thread here is perfectly acceptable and appropriate.

Anyone subscribe to the Globe and can get a screengrab of the headline change in the e-edition? Or you can PM me and I'll post it.
