It’s so new to me that the Mets might be a well-run organization now. Max Scherzer out and Verlander hasn’t been a factor. Making those trades looks really good now.

I loved the signings. While both were old, they were both still pitching great. They could’ve caught lightning in a bottle.

Didn’t work out. But they flipped a bad situation pretty good with the trades.

Deep thoughts after seeing JD Martinez hit a go-ahead grand slam in the 7th and seeing what its like to sign a good DH.

Entering today, Shohei was leading the NL in:
    Runs (84)
    HR (33)
    BA (.308)
    OBP (.398)
    SLG (.630)
    OPS (1.028)
Tonight, he stole his 30th base. So he's a 30-30 guy with nearly one-third of the season still to go.
    Amazing.

Four AL players ahead of him in average. Slacker.

I’m occasionally optimistic on the weekends. It will pass.

It'll be really odd if .308 wins the crown. But this is shaping up to be one incredible year.

Just noticed something that would irk me if I were a Pirates fan. Paul Skenes missed a turn in the rotation because he threw one inning in a meaningless exhibition game in mid-July. Pitched for his employer on July 11 and not again until July 23.

Mariners rally to tie the game, then steal a win in the 10th as an obvious strike three isn’t called during a game-winning walk.

Phillies lose their sixth straight. Still have a ways to go to match the Zombie Sox losing streak.

No way Dodgers win pennant (certainly not WS) with Biggio/Ahmed at 2B/SS right? Oh yeah Mookie is coming back. Nevermind….

All-Star Jeff Hoffman, who gave up five earned runs all season, allowed four in the sixth inning. When it rains it pours and it’s a monsoon for the Phillies right now.

Seems a lock for a 40-40 season. Can he make a run at 50-50?
