I'm good with the cheapskate/faker/racist falling short. Johnny Vegas has gotta be one of the coolest sounding names in athletics ever (although the official pronunciation is likely different).

Yeah, usually Andrew Catalon is in the 18th, but guessing Nantz did it since CBS didn't have golf last week, doesn't have it next week and only has the Wyndham left since it's NBC's year for the playoffs.

If Scottie hangs on and wins a medal - he’s in first as I type — it’s got to help shove him over Xander for POY, right?

After that final round? Hell yes.

    And gotta love Rory afterward:

"I still think that the Ryder Cup is the best tournament that we have in our game, pure competition, and I think this has the potential to be right up there with it. I think with how much of a shit show the game of golf is right now and you think about the two tournaments that might be the purest form of competition in our sport, we don't play for money in it."

Hard to believe how pro golf fucked up all kinds of opportunity with the pandemic-fueled explosive growth of the sport.

The PGA Tour is still trying to catch up with the times, it announced last week that on the Wednesday afternoon before the Tour Championship they'll host the "Creator Classic" at East Lake -- a nine-holer for all the golf YouTubers (minus Bryson, lol) who are on a much more upward trajectory than the Tour's TV ratings. That dopey name alone tells you how much work the Tour still has to do with younger audiences.

Is there anyone there on a Wednesday for the practice rounds? I know there are some, but not a lot. Also, it's midweek and school also is in session. Classes started Thursday (8/1). All the YooToob Kreators will be in classes.

Also, can't wait to see the concession prices this year. Always a treat to pay $30 or more for a hot dog and beer.

I subscribe to three or four YouTube channels that feature former teaching pros that now exclusively make videos and vlogs. They won't be in class that day. They're all British so I don't know if they will come over for this, but they did recently have the equivalent of a Creator Classic before the BMW International Open in Germany.

I don't know for certain but for a 30-player tournament I'd guess Wednesday would be pretty light. Definitely the right place/time for the Tour to do this without upsetting its members and make ticket revenue where they normally wouldn't.

If it works, cool. Moreso on Wednesday when it's a light day. Maybe the Tour will find a good spot for it and everyone will get something out of it.

However much “first annual” grinds my gears, labeling a brand-new event a “classic” isn’t far behind.
