My kid absolutely bleeds Royal blue.
He says if Detroit takes 2-3 from KC, there’s not enough beer in the county.
I told him that he can just head to the store as soon as McArthur starts warming up in the pen.
When he does decide to throw a strike, 94 right down the chute goes around 430 feet.

There is no way your son is already of drinking age.

    Right?

Angels rookie reliever Ben Joyce got a game-ending strikeout of the Mets' JD Martinez last night (Martinez hit a grand slam in his previous at-bat). Clocking on the screen in real time read 105 mph. Announcers said the official clocking was 104.7 mph. First career save for Joyce. He has a nasty breaking ball, too.
It was a great ballgame. Lots of Angels games are great games, but they usually lose them.

Speaking of the Angels, sorta, and this is a super niche post that perhaps only @Deskgrunt50 will appreciate...but Steve Gelbs filling in for Gary Cohen on SNY broadcasts is like buying Bruce Springsteen tickets and getting the world's worst E Street cover band instead.

He's happy with today's ninth inning, I presume.

Absolutely no argument. It’s not like Gelbs is terrible. He’s not. Just shows how great Cohen is. He’s a tremendous broadcaster and brings out the best in Keith and Ron. He’s a master conductor in the booth

Zombie Sox get clobbered 13-7 in Minnesota for their 20th straight loss.

Chicago is now 27-87. Seen a few people mention that you can wager on what comes first: a 30th win or 100th loss. Seems like a no-brainer at this point.

I must argue with you here. Gelbs is terrible. He sounds like the boom goes the dynamite kid. He just used the word "tier" to describe how the Mets were trying to score the tying run.

    You? Argue? Never!

I will qualify by saying that he sounds line 75 percent of all other baseball announcers. Which could be deemed as terrible.

At his current pace, he'd be close. My guess is that when Mookie and Freeman return, he won't need to steal as often and will shut that part of his game down.
Today's lineup --with which they won because the A's -- consisted of Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez and seven guys who had combined to hit 29 homers on the year.

    I can’t fathom what 104.7 looks like.
Gotta be like a camera flash.
