Glad to see the Phillies get back on track a bit, if only because I have a bar bet going with a fellow regular where he said the Braves were going to win the AL East way back in May or early June, when they were 10 games back. Was getting a little uncomfortable there for a bit.

Doc Prothro retains the lowest managerial winning percentage (.301) in big league history.

The rare modern press release not thanking him for his time with the club. Not that they’re wrong to omit it.

He’s screwed. The Braves are never gonna win the AL East! :D

When you can't put a competitive Double A team on the field, fire the manager. See Trammell, Alan.

Doc Prothro's son was Tommy Prothro, a coach of Rose Bowl teams at two different schools and an NFL coach.

Blaming the manager for the debacle that is the White Sox is like blaming the wine steward for the sinking of the Titanic.

Doug Sisson as bench coach. That's the same Doug Sisson who managed the Harrisburg Senators, left them mid-season to take a coaching job at UGeorgia, then begged his way back into the Harrisburg dugout after 10 days.

I don't know if the Mariners saved their season tonight but that sure as hell didn't hurt.

Haniger played for our summer-ball team. Always great to see alums shine. He's been bad all season but has been pretty decent lately, if that makes any sense.

The M's really needed this one. Another home sweep to a sub-.500 team would not have been good.

At first I thought another spectacular play was coming from a Tigers outfielder, but the right fielder couldn't get his glove on it.

The AL West hasn't been this shitty since 1994, when the Rangers led the division despite being 10 games under .500 when the strike started.
