I think you're probably right. We live unfunny times.

Which is probably why tossing the couch joke is in order. We can return to irreverence once Trump has lost, for good, and poking fun at Biden, or whoever, is not seen as a potential threat to democracy.

Punch up not down is a pretty well established rule of comedy by now.

I hope trump does this every day. He looks and sound awful and he's mentally gone. This shit wins over nobody.

He can't stop talking about the past. Absolutely not a shit given about the future.

So many statements more unhinged than normal. Oh, and "abortion is not an issue now." Keep saying that you senile criminal.

That's right. He did not grow up Winter's Bone. (The excellent J-Law movie.)

But he grew up lower middle class, in essence. His grandma seems a lot like the Roseanne character. He went to the military when a lot of kids of his intelligence would have gone directly to college. And then, when he got to college, he zipped through it, benefited from the kindness and generosity of people who easily moved in that world, and now has to speak for the people he knew as a kid.

And he invited all that; he didn't have to write the book or accept a VP nom. But that's the frame on him now; he's a person that - provided you're punching from the left - you're allowed to make fun of and prosecute for character flaws. And if you'd grown up how he did, probably feeling looked down upon back then, it may well feel the same way now. Not that it should, but human beings are who they are.

I don't think Trump will dump the guy, but there's a chance it gets very personal and ugly for Vance. A debate between he and Walz could be pretty vicious.

What's the worst thing that could happen? President Trump's supporters might riot while chanting "Hang JD Vance!"?

    Alma -

WHy did he change his name twice?

He is not worth your typical overanalysis. He's just not that interesting.

A sprig of parsley. He doesn't even have an Ivy League mouth.
