    I may have to see a game or two to see how it works, but reading about the new kickoff rules look very complicated. And I'll be dammed if I understand why they were necessary.

    The argument I heard for it is that it would encourage kickoff returns, but without the same concerns for player safety that existed with the old returns. The whole thing is stupid, but that's the argument for it.

    Rapoport and Garafalo have both said that the deal isn't done, but they expect the Steelers to get Aiyuk from the 49ers. I'm still not counting it as done, but I'm curious what they get. I've heard everything from a first-round pick and an offensive lineman to picks in the second and fifth rounds.

    After tonight's game, one thing is clear: if Jared Goff gets hurt, the Lions are screwed to the moon.

    And cuts down on all the damn touchbacks. But, yeah, I think safety is the prime motivation.
