Giants and A's are off Friday and play at the Coliseum Saturday and Sunday.

What they ought to do (but will never happen) is rotate the rivalries over a 15 year period. I'd rather see a home and home with the Cardinals or Cubs once in a while. Anyone, to be honest.

Just realign the divisions. Everyone plays by the same rules now with the DH so line things up by, mostly, geography.

Boston, N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Mets, Philadelphia, Toronto
Atlanta, Baltimore, Miami, Tampa Bay, Washington
    Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota, Pittsburgh
Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis
Arizona, Colorado, L.A. Angels, L.A. Dodgers, San Diego
Houston, Oakland, San Francisco, Seattle, Texas

This will happen, except in an NFL 4x8 matrix, once they expand to 32 after the next "awww we're broke" lockout.

Just to make BYH bust into a primal scream, here's how those divisions could lay out based on various expansion scenarios that assume the whole A's thing could end up in FILL IN THE BLANK RANDOM WESTERN CITY! (Including Portland, but fuck it, I included them anyway.)

    Roll that beautiful bean footage!

So under the plan above, you're preserving Yankees-Red Sox and Cubs-Cardinals but not Giants-Dodgers?

    I’m gonna throw up.
Oh….and Montreal will be the next team sans Vegas that gets a team.

Yep! I don't give a flying fuck about the West Coast! :p

Honestly, San Francisco can easily be exchanged with Anaheim, San Diego or Arizona in all of those scenarios.

Good point. I'll amend, but later breaking off the Giants and Athletics won't be as difficult if both aren't in the Bay Area.

Boston, N.Y. Yankees, N.Y. Mets, Philadelphia, Toronto
Atlanta, Baltimore, Miami, Tampa Bay, Washington
    Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Minnesota, Pittsburgh
Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis
L.A. Angels, L.A. Dodgers, Oakland/Las Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego
    Arizona, Colorado, Houston, Seattle, Texas
