This is what I look to to get a sense of where we are. It may not be any more accurate than the polls in reality (it's a limited betting market, unfortunately), but betting markets tend to be pretty efficient. I wish betting on the election was legal in the U.S.. If it was, whatever the odds have settled at at any given time would probably give the most accurate gauge of where the electorate is.

I have bovada. I *think* its legal for me to bet. I know that there are 5 states in the US where it is illegal. At worst, it is "driving 56 in a 55 mph zone".

My understanding is that it is illegal for me to run a book. Not illegal for me to place a bet.

Tell me what you want, and venmo me, I'll place a bet if you want it.

Between the WinStar in Thackerville and Choctaw in Durant, you've got nearly 800,000 square feet of casino floor right on the Red River. The tribes fought against Arkansas expanding gambling in the state so the nearest casino to the Oklahoma line that got approved was about 90 minutes from the border (and is still mired in litigation and hasn't broken ground). They'll got full nuclear option if Texas starts seriously considering it.

He’s astonished that when he came poking around more than three weeks later that the body wasn’t still hanging out in the cooler downstairs? Like he was going to do some kind of unskewed autopsy or something?

At this point there are two main flavors of Republicans: The ones who think they are God’s messengers sent to punish and correct. And the ones who think they are Jethro Bodine - Double Naught Spy.

Betting on U.S. elections is illegal in the U.S.. In every state. Foreign sportsbooks that are located outside of the U.S. get around it because they are not located in the U.S. Kind of like off shore sportsbooks used to operate in the U.S. before gambling was legalized here. Those foreign books take the action, but if you are an American and place a bet through them from the U.S., you are technically breaking the law. Someone could conceivably come after you for it.

Regardless, I'm not personally interested in betting on the election. I just think when you get a well-developed betting market, it has a way of discounting pretty much all the available information, and they are often really efficient. If betting on the elections was actually legal in the U.S., you'd have books here taking the action and it would draw more people, and I think it would give better info than pollsters are usually able to capture.

I’d love to know the actual amount bet. People point to the political gambling markets as efficient predictors because the whole point is to turn a profit and not narrative driven, but it could also be that the amounts bet are minuscule.
