    Which is why government officials shouldn't be pressuring it with regard to anything that comes close to a free speech issue, if that happened (and it did by more accounts than this). It's even more problematic maybe than past things like this, because our government has taken more power over time to reward and punish businesses with "regulation" and administrative actions that have real teeth because of that power they can lord over a private enterprise to get them to do what they want.

    If Trump wins, HIS minions will decide what is or isn't "misinformation."

    Totally agree with you on this. The ends justify the means for people when it's something coercive that forces what THEY think is good on others. This has happened continually over the last century in this country.

    But the barn door we've opened by allowing that, means that the next guy in power can use it in ways they don't like. It's always wild to me that without any sense of irony, the same people who were all good wiht playing fast and loose with civil liberties or taking shortcuts (like using the judiciary like a legislature) to achieve things they thought were righteous, suddenly find religion about the means when the same action is being used by a Donald Trump to do what he wants.

    I agree it's a difficult conversation.

    Yet the answer to, "EVERYONE IS TELLING ME ON FACEBOOK TO EAT HORSE PASTE!" surely can't be, "Oh well. We're the Government. I guess we have to sit on the sidelines and let the Ivermectin flow while our hospitals are filling up."

    If Facebook wants to make people happy they'll crack down on the AI spambots. The new thing is if you comment or even "Like" a post by, say, SI or the NYT, then a spammer will harvest all those names, tag them in a post with a link to a porn video with malware embedded in it. Facebook's own AI used for determining if posts violate FB's rules are behind the curve, so if you report that post for spam then FB says "Nah, it's cool."
