She's averaging more than 13 points a game, which is well above average. And "other than being the best offensive rebounder in the sport" is kind of a big thing to exclude.

Yeah, her shooting in the paint needs to get a lot better. Part of that is exacerbated by the fact that she's undersized for someone who plays the way she does.

I'm glad she can rebound ... but how many of them are offensive off her own missed shots?

Again…. If you subtract all the rebounds from her own misses, she is still leading the league in offensive rebounds.

Even with Reese's really impressive rebounding numbers - she leads the league in total rebounds, rebounds per game, total rebound percentage, offensive rebound percentage and third in defensive rebound percentage - her PER is "only" 17.3 because of how brutal she is on the offensive end. If she can clean that aspect up, or pass more - she's 10th on her own team in assists per 36 - her efficiency radically improves and she's one of the better players in the league pretty quickly. She's 22 and a rookie, so plenty of time for her to improve and refine her game.

Talk of her being ROTY over Clark seems like silly, First Take fodder bullshit. I doubt anyone outside of Chicago Fire, LSU and Angel Reese fans are really willing to go in on that. Maybe if her team was winning, you'd see some "wow that's bad in hindsight" votes for her, like how Carmelo got 40 first place votes to LeBron's 78 in their rookie year. (Which by the way - wow what a ridiculous rookie class! Forgot that was also the debut year for Wade and Bosh.)

An indelible memory is LBJ, Wade and Bosh taking the gas face in 2011 against the Mavs. The best team money could buy under the sal cap.

My impression is Reese is Denise Rodman.

(ADD: A very valuable and significant part of a championship team as shown by the Pistons and Bulls.)

There is probably not a NBA coach who would allow someone shooting 38.8% in eFG to shoot 12 times per game as a veteran, much less a rookie.

It's hard to know what accounts for the Sky's willingness to let someone who can't make shots keep shooting anyway.

    She's shooting 12 times a game.

They count as much as rebounds of missed shots by teammates.

I don't especially like her, but rebounding is hard work and rebounding wins games. She does it, in fact is tenacious at it. That's a plus on any team.

They suck, so it's not surprising they'd just let their best rookie have a green light. But also, who knows if Weatherspoon can coach? Chicago is 11-20, and previously, she had three good years at Louisiana Tech followed by two or three "meh" years that got her fired.

The negative about a poor shooting percentage is the number of possessions with zero points.

But if you factor in how many times a possession with her shooting EVENTUALLY results in points --- because she's rebounding her own misses --- it's not that damaging.
