Tremendously entertaining match tonight between Medvedev and 22-year-old Italian Flavio Cobolli. Medvedev won in straight sets, but the Cobolli kid has some serious game and some charisma and combined with Medvedev’s volatility and the way he plays to the crowd it made for a great show. Other than Alcaraz and his jaw-dropping play, I’m not sure there’s anyone who’s more fun to watch than Medvedev, especially in New York.

Cobolli is someone to keep an eye on. He’s risen from 102 in the rankings in January to 31 and he has a lot of weapons. Tonight it seemed the two things he was missing were a reliable first serve and patience, and both are likely to come with time.

Navarro and Gauff currently playing on the Gauff channel. Not sure I have ever heard more talk about one player, when the other is American, and 13th seed.

ESPN keeps getting back to the match after commercials, one or two points into the game.

Coco killing herself with the doubles.

Chrissie is a terrible commentator. She openly roots for players all the time.

In the second round when Gauff’s serve started coming apart, Chrissie kept saying it was because she was unnerved by Tatiana Maria’s unorthodox slicing style. Ignoring the fact that Gauff had struggled with her serve all year against every opponent.

I like Navarro and she’s really good, but Coco absolutely gift-wrapped this one for her.

The kids coming down to the front row with the giant tennis balls while Coco was serving 4-5 was pretty cringy..

Just looked it up. Coming into this tournament Gauff was leading the WTA Tour with 277 double faults this year.

That was horrible. Did the ushers let them do that?

Gauff and Osaka look plain miserable so often. I honestly feel bad for them.

The tense discussion about the Navarro-Gauff match with Chris McKendry, Renae Stubbs and commentator/Gauff's coach Brad Gilbert was interesting and awkward. When Stubbs ripped Gauff's poor serve technique and tactics, you could see the steam coming out of Gilbert's ears.

Sorry coach Gilbert, but numbers don't lie. Fix that crap.
