Anything that hits Houston or wider east tends to recurve toward LA, AR and points north (Harvey was an exception, as it camped out over H-Town.) Rita was a prime example as I got exactly two raindrops on my windshield.

There are sadder places than Sumter County, but not many.

If it isn't a dry county, can't be too unhappy.

We now have Francine in the Gulf. Forecast to hit Louisiana Wednesday morning, then move straight up the Mississippi River.

Clinging to water to stay alive longer. They're getting smarter. :)

Dirty side not quite projected hit greater New Orleans at full force, but that track keeps sliding east.

I hate that uneasiness of the track sliding inexorably closer. Until it crosses, and then you're like, "keep moving east!"

WWL hasn't gone into hurricane mode yet (they're broadcasting MNF.).

Francine is pretty much meandering right now at 4 mph. It's really not going to pick up much forward speed until Tuesday afternoon. How much it develops and how quickly it starts to head north is anybody's best guess. That's a whole lot of very warm water out there.

The NHC discussion pegs out at a probably 100 mph landfall and rapidly destabilizing after that. But the flooding could be worse than the wind for this one.

New Iberia looks to be ground zero according to most models.
