There is no way to write into law “Ordinarily this would be a violation, but this guy needed roughin’ up.” And given there is a 50-50 chance of America returning to the previous management, you shouldn’t want that to exist.

Had the officer been as polite as Mr. Rogers, how long before Tyreek Hill stops acting like Tyreek Hill? Two weeks from never?

Acting like Tyreek Hill is not in itself illegal. Follow me on this one: The fact that someone deserves to get their ass kicked does not always justify kicking their ass.

Can't we just talk about how much the Jets suck?

You guys are exactly saying this, it’s okay to get slammed to the ground because he didn’t comply AND he’s Tyreek Hill who MAY have been acting entitled.

You may not be saying this outright but saying both could be wrong is slyly equating the two and thus negating the degree of wrongdoing.

    Was Hill’s conduct perfect? No.
Has he shown to be a perfect human? No
Did he commit a traffic violation? Yes (speeding)

Does that allow him to get manhandled and thrown to the ground? No.

All this, “well he didn’t follow orders” doesn’t justify the actions and clear civil rights violations.

Just because you commit a crime and ignore a command doesn’t give law enforcement free rein to ignore you as a citizen.

Constitution for everyone, including criminals, or no one because the whole point is not to let the government choose who gets rights and when they apply.

I like my cops who don’t arrest people for theoretical crimes.

    Some stories are villains only.

Overreaction by the police, but expected (not deserved, but expected). Hill is an imbecile for fucking around with people itching to get to the "find out" stage.

Had they kept cooler heads, the police really could have fucked with him by leisurely going about their business and taking what Hill stated was most important to him - his time.

I’m the expert here. I got picked up on Sunday doing 51 in a 35 and got a warning. I’ve been picked up by a cop 13 times and have only gotten a ticket once.

My five-year old, sitting bemused in the back seat after the cop walks away, said afterwards, “That’s the first time I’ve been captured by the police.”

You're absolutely right on that. Baller move, that would have been.

The best one was when the cop told me he was going to write a ticket and he got radioed for a big fight at a Fourth of July party as he was going back to his car. He just yelled back “It’s your lucky day. You can go.” He just walked away and vanished. I’m sitting there in the car afraid to pull away for five minutes.
