The Kennedy - Nixon debate thing is kind of an urban legend. People listening on radio had different reactions and there wasn't a huge bump.

Kennedy won because Rumrunner Joe bought votes in West Virginia and Illinois.

 

He really took the bait on crowd sizes. He was rattled and flopped and flailed from that point on. It was just that easy.

 

Which canceled out the GOP buying votes in Ohio. There was GOP talk of contesting Illinois until JFK mentioned that in a call with Nixon after the election.

 

And the big, tough alpha male couldn’t even look her in the eye. Fucking coward.

 

Apparently the foofs in the spin room were crying that Fatfuck was let down by his prep team, he wasn't properly prepared and the "nasty woman" hit him with a lot of unfair surprise stuff.

 

Bad debates happen. Though the last guy that had one did drop out.

 

Nothing is ever his fault.

 

That was a great debate. Usually not impressed with Muir (his crooked mouth mostly - and I thought Stephenopoulous was doing it?) but ABC did a great job with the questions. Good back and forth. Trump was Trump, don't think he gained any ground. Harris grew stronger as the night went on. Some really well timed attacks on the small things (like crowd sizes) she knew would get under Trump's skin. But again - the questions were very well formed and informed with past statements and positions from both candidates to get to the heart of things. The audience was well served. And no stupid "Say one thing you admire about the other person" at the end.

Other points - Harris's reactions to Trump speaking were very effective. Somewhere between "What the hell are you talking about? and "That's interesting Boomer."

I hadn't read before that Harris was a gun owner - not a surprise as a former DA - but interesting tidbit.

The Swift endorsement will be all over social media - don't underestimate it.

Trump seemed to not realize this wasn't a Fox News Town Hall and continued to trot out the "hits." There are some people just tuning into the election now wondering well, "What the hell are you talking about?" I saw nothing in the performance that would entice someone who wasn't already a subscriber to his view of the world.

Ask people about the debate and none will be able to recite the competing economic plans - everybody will talk about the dog eating thing.
