We discussed earlier in this thread who takes the title of "Greatest Living Ballplayer" now with Willie gone - it just might be Ohtani. He's in the discussion for sure.

It’s unquestionably Ohtani. I’d vote to waive the waiting period and put him in the Hall right now. For fuck’s sake, he went 50-50 WHILE RECOVERING FROM TOMMY JOHN SURGERY.

We're not going to trade him and get the most value to help our organization because, of course, he's going to re-sign with us. </artie>

Just think how good Ohtani would be if he had spent some time in the minors.

Think what you want, but ... it's Barry Bonds.

If Ohtani can sustain it as long as Mays did, I'll think about it.

He's not the best living player because he's barely 30 and for as amazing as he is, he's only done it for a short period of time. But if he goes 40/40 while posting a 3.00-ish ERA over 25 starts next year...goddamn, he's gonna be awfully high on the list.

If he's able to get back to pitching, he's not going to steal that many bases ever again -- it's not worth it for the wear and tear on his body and the potential to get hurt

His year-by year totals taking out the COVID season:
    10
    12
    26
    11
    20
