I get the sentiment, but the division is out of reach and the Orioles are four games up on the Royals for home field with seven to play. A win would be nice for momentum, but I'm more worried about getting guys back and in form next week to prepare for the wild card series.

Well, this should help with that.

    Tigers win.
    Royals lose.
    Twins lose first of two.

As of this moment, the Detroit Tigers would be in the American League playoffs.

I just typed that sentence and still don't believe it.

    You're right.
Thankfully, everybody else other than the Tigers keeps losing, too.

Burnes is set to pitch the Thursday game in the Bronx, which keeps him on schedule for starting the wild-card opener on the following Tuesday.

    Tigers:
Off day Monday, then 6 at home to finish the season: three with Tampa, and three with the Suck Sox.

Twins also close out with 6 at home: three each with Miami and the Orioles.

Kansas City: tied with Tigers but hold the tiebreaker: 6 games, all on the road-- 3 at Washington, 3 at Atlanta.

Orioles better be careful, because the Tigers hold the tiebreaker and are only four back with six to go.
