This is a different part of McAfee's conversation with Jeff Passan, which I posted earlier. Here's a different take on the Pirates cutting Rowdy Tellez four plate appearances shy of a $200,000 bonus. I don't buy all of what Passan said here. I don't think it is the same as the Giants upgrading from J.D. Davis to Matt Chapman, but he is right about what is wrong with the Pirates. I just think cutting Tellez was wrong, and a bigger deal than he thinks it is, too.

Is it bad that I needed a beat to remember that it was Wander, and not Julio? Pretty sure it wasn't Generalissimo Francisco, though.

 

Even if the White Sox get swept in Detroit this weekend, that little mini-streak against the Angels blew Chicago's chance to surpass the 1916 Philadelphia A's for worst winning percentage in "modern" history. The White Sox can't do worse than .240, while the A's .235 will remain the record.
